No. 14 Sailfish Take Down Lions in Four, Push Streak to Ten

ST. LEO, Fla. – The No. 14 Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball team picked up their 10th-straight victory on Friday night, winning 3-1 (22-25, 25-17, 25-17, 25-20) over Saint Leo. The victory gives PBA their sixth-straight 20-win season.

The ‘Fish (20-3) dropped a set for the third straight match but improved their record to 7-2 in four set affairs. The Lions (15-8) took the first set after coming back from a 12-6 hole. The Sailfish scored just once after leading 21-20 late in the set. PBA was consistent all night long with 14 kills in three of the four sets including the first. The Sailfish hit .216 in the frame while Leo hit a match-high .361 with 15 kills.

PBA bounced back in the second with their best offensive performance of the night, hitting .324 with 14 kills and only two errors while the Lions were held to a .071 attack. Ally Rohn lifted the ‘Fish with half of her 10 kills in the set. The freshman also collected 23 assists and 16 digs on the night to record her NCAA D2-leading seventh triple-double of the season.

The Sailfish jumped out to a 9-4 edge in the third and later used a 6-1 run to take a 21-13 advantage. This time it was Ally’s older sister, Faith, who led the team with five kills. The senior totaled 14 kills and 12 digs overall on the night and also assisted on three blocks. The double-double is her 10th of the year.

It was the middles turn in the fourth as Emma Ballantyne recorded four kills and Sarah Ragland added four blocks. Ballantyne finished the match with 14 kills after also adding five in the opening frame. Ragland continues her strong sophomore season with eight total blocks and eight kills.

Alexandra Roberts joined in the double-double fun with her eighth of the season, notching 24 assists and 14 digs. Rachael Holehouse added 16 digs while Susie Forbes led the team with 17. Stephany Brown added seven kills and three blocks while Amy Schatzmann collected four service aces.

The ‘Fish sweep the season series from the Lions after also winning 3-0 in September in Rubin Arena. PBA will look to do the same against Eckerd on Saturday as the Sailfish take on the Tritons at 4 p.m.
