Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – No. 14 Palm Beach Atlantic kept rolling along on Tuesday night, taking down Lynn University 3-1 – 23-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-14 – to pick up their ninth straight victory. The Sailfish sweep the season series against the Fighting Knights (12-9) for the third straight year.
PBA (19-3) got 22 of their 52 kills from the Rohn sisters as both Faith and Ally recorded double-doubles on the night. For Faith it was 12 kills and 14 digs for her ninth double-double of the year while Ally got there with 10 kills and 18 assists for her team-leading 17th double-double.
The Sailfish opened slowly out of the gate, falling behind in the first set 14-10 before eventually dropping the set 25-23. Both Faith and Ally had three kills in the set while Sarah Ragland also added three as the team hit a match-low .091 in the frame. Rachael Holehouse added eight of her match-high 28 digs in the opener as well while Alexandra Roberts set up the offense with eight of her 26 assists.
The ‘Fish again were slow to start in the second, trailing early at 9-7 but a quick three points put the ‘Fish up top at 10-9. After Lynn tied the set at 10-10 and 11-11, PBA gained control the rest of the way. PBA hit .243 but only had 11 kills while the Knights totaled 16 – their highest of any set on the night. Lynn had eight attack errors thanks to the Sailfish block as Ragland led the charge with three of her five block assists. Stephany Brown was in on two during the set and finished with four block assists for the match.
PBA carried momentum into the third and fourth sets, jumping out to a 12-6 lead in the third and a 14-8 advantage in the fourth. Faith Rohn carried the team in the third with seven of the team’s 14 kills. The defense forced Lynn into their worst hitting set of the night at .071 as the PBA defense dug up 22 balls.
Emma Ballantyne and Abby Palkert added seven kills each as Ballantyne hit .429 for the match. Ragland led the team with a .643 hitting percentage, nine kills and no errors on 14 attempts. Stephany Brown added six kills for the ‘Fish. Susie Forbes added 16 digs on defense while Roberts chipped in with nine.
The Sailfish will put their nine-game winning streak on the line this weekend as they travel to Saint Leo on Friday at 7 p.m. and follow that up with a match at Eckerd on Saturday at 4 p.m. PBA defeated both teams at home by the same score of 3-0 earlier this season.
