TAMPA, Fla. – The woes continued on Saturday afternoon for the Palm Beach Atlantic women’s basketball team as they struggled mightily at the hand of the University of Tampa, 64-39 from the Bob Martinez Center.

In another forgetful performance against the Spartans, PBA shot just 24% (16-for-62) from the floor for the game, including 10% (1-of-10) from behind the three-point line. They were outrebounded 49-31 and hit just 57% (8-for-14) from the free throw line. UT shot 46% (25-of-55) from the floor for the game, with a respectable 33% (9-for-27) from beyond the arc.

Trailing at halftime by only 11, the Sailfish couldn’t muster together an offensive attack to shrink the deficit in the second stanza, surrendering 33 points while scoring just 19 of their own.

Two factors in the game rang positive for PBA, one being the turnover margin. For the first time this season, the Sailfish committed less than 10 turnovers with seven. Tampa coughed the ball up 14 times.

The other factor was the individual scoring effort from Nkiru Anyagaligbo, who was the only Palm Beach Atlantic player to finish in double-digits with 16. She also led the team with seven rebounds on the afternoon in 27 minutes played.

PBA returns to action on Wednesday evening when they host Top 25 power Nova Southeastern on Arrigo Night at the Rubin Arena. Game time is slated for 5:30 pm.
