WEST PALM BEACH – The AVCA No. 19 ranked Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball team rebounded from just their second loss of the season on Saturday and overwhelmed the visiting Panthers of Florida Tech on the way to a clean sweep on Tuesday night from the Rubin Arena.
After starting the match out slow, falling behind FIT early, the Sailfish came charging back and eventually took the first set 25-23. As a team, PBA had an attack percentage of .515 and had just two errors to 19 kills.
Set two was more of the same for Palm Beach Atlantic, jumping out to an early 8-1 lead and never looking back on the way to the 25-13 rout. The strong attack continued in the second frame with the ‘Fish pounding out 14 kills with just three errors and finishing with a .355 attack percentage.
The Sailfish continued to overpower the Panthers in the third and final set, walking away with a 25-19 set victory for the sweep.
Faith Rohn led the offense with 17 kills on the night and only four errors on 36 attempts for a .361 attack percentage. Stephany Brown and Emma Ballantyne each added nine kills on the night, with Brown hitting .368 and Ballantyne contributing an eye-popping .692 percentage.
Libero Rachael Holehouse finished the game with 20 digs while Rohn added 10 and Melissa Buckingham chipped in eight. Senior setter Becca Acevedo dished out 39 assists on the night.
Palm Beach Atlantic returns to action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Winter Park, Fla. to take on Rollins College at 4 pm.
