BOCA RATON, Fla.- Palm Beach Atlantic senior baseball player Nic Kovacs was named recently to another postseason award listing. This time the honor for Kovacs comes from the American Baseball Coaches Association as a member of the Rawlings All-Region second-team.

The senior right-handed pitcher has been no stranger to postseason awards following his outstanding senior campaign as he has been selected to a total of five regional award listings in the past few weeks.

Kovacs finished with an impressive 7-5 overall pitching record with a superb 1.98 earned-run average as the unquestioned top hurler on the Sailfish pitching staff.

Thriving under the tutelage of second-year head coach Kent Bottenfield, Kovacs emerged as the team’s ace from the start of the season through the final games of a solid 2013 campaign for the Fish.

Beyond his solid win total, Kovacs also proved extremely durable as he tallied 104.2 innings on the hill with eight complete games and a shutout to his credit. He posted just 11 walks while tallying 62 strikeouts along the way.

Other publications to name Kovacs to their postseason awards list include the NCCAA, NCBWA, Daktronics and the ICAA.
