Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic senior duo of Lynsey Poole and Ashley Dolberry led the way Saturday, scoring 20 and 17 points respectively, but it wasn’t enough to lead PBA to a road win over Florida Southern, as the Sailfish fell to the Moccasins, 66-52.
Foul trouble in the first half forced the Fish to go deep into their bench, and the visitors soon found themselves in a deep hole. PBA was able to cut the 17-point first half deficit down to just nine points with 7:21 to go, but the Mocs put together an 11-0 run over the next three minutes to put the final nail in the coffin.
Poole’s 20 led the way for PBA on 6-of-14 shooting from the floor and an 8-of-12 mark from the free throw line, while Dolberry went 5-of-14 from the floor and 6-of-10 from the charity stripe.
Palm Beach Atlantic shot 32% (25-of-59) for the game, while Florida Southern shot a blistering 42% (25-of-59). The Sailfish were only able to hit once from downtown, going 1-of-9 for the game, while the Moccasins knocked down 4-of-14 from the three point line, including 3-of-6 in the second half.
PBA committed 19 turnovers, four more than their average, but also forced Florida Southern into 17. The Mocs also held a slight edge in the rebounding battle, 40-38.
The Sailfish return to action in the Rubin Arena on Wednesday night as part of a double-header against South Florida rival Lynn University. Tip off time is slated for 5 P.M.
