AVE MARIA, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball team traveled to Ave Maria University on Tuesday evening as they would suit up to take on the Lady Gyrenes. With a much improved effort from their earlier season matchup, the Gyrenes would test the Sailfish but in the end PBA would tally their 20th sweep of the season as they defeated AMU 3-0 to improve to 28-3 on the season.

With news of where they stand in the NCAA South Regional rankings just a day away, the Fish polished off a 3-0 sweep of Ave Maria by the scores of 25-19, 25-22 and 26-24. The loss for AMU drops them to 3-12 on the season.

With only one upperclassman for the Sailfish receiving court time for the night, the young Sailfish would spread the wealth on the offensive attack while producing six players with at least four kills in the three sets.

Sophomore middle-blocker Brytney Annis led the way with eight kills on only 11 attacks for an eye-popping .727 hitting percentage. Fellow sophomore Kelsey Fox chipped in seven kills while freshmen Rachel Jones and Faith Rohn each added in six kills in the win.

Becca Acevedo distributed 26 assists in the win while freshman Alex Marszalek added in seven assists in her one set of work. Melissa Buckingham did her usual good work from the libero position with a match-high 14 digs to go with one service ace.

Rohn added in six digs on the defensive side as did junior Lexie Grizzle and freshman Rachael Holehouse.

The Gyrenes were led by nine kills from Natalie McClain while Amber Vines chipped in seven kills.

The Fish now will gear up for a big road trip this weekend as they will take on three oponents on the campus of the University of North Alabama in Florence, Ala. All three PBA opponents represent NCAA South Region contests.
