WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- For the first time in the short NCAA history of Palm Beach Atlantic University volleyball the team has swept the season series with Florida Tech after defeating the Panthers on the road on Wednesday night in Melbourne at the Clemente Center. Junior Mariela Quesada produced a huge night with a double-double of 22 kills and 17 digs while senior Lanae Robinson chipped in a big performance of her own with 12 kills as PBA took the match 3-1.

The Sailfish improve their overall season record to 20-3 with a few weeks remaining in regular season play while the Panthers drop to 6-18 in the 2011 campaign.

PBA began the match with a solid first set as the team concluded the set with a .346 team attacking percentage on their way to a 25-20 win. Things got a bit shaky in the second set as the Panthers rebounded by limiting the Fish to only a .083 team attacking percentage as they evened things up at 1-1 with a 25-20 win of their own.

Set three needed extra time with PBA holding on for a 26-24 win as senior Janeen McCormick and Quesada tallied back-to-back kills to take the pivotal 2-1 set lead.

Now fueled with momentum on their side the Fish made quick work of the home-standing Panthers in the fourth set as the Fish earned a 25-15 win behind a match-best .367 attacking mark.

Quesada led all players in kills while finishing as the PBA leader in digs as well with her 22 kills and 17 digs performance. The Costa Rica native finished with 55 total attacks while compiling a .286 attacking percentage.

Robinson produced one of her best all-around performances of the season with 12 kills on just 23 attacks for a robust .435 attacking percentage which led the Sailfish regulars.

Adding to the offensive production of PBA was freshman Kelsey Fox who managed seven kills and no hitting errors while posting a .583 attacking percentage off the bench. McCormick also finished with seven kills on the night.

Allie Warren finished with 16 digs as the team libero while freshman setter Becca Acevedo produced a great all around night with 41 assists and 11 digs for the double-double.

Florida Tech was paced by a 15-kill performance from Kaitlin Brennan and 11 kills by Caitlyn Ballweber. Angie Lassman led all players with 21 digs with setter Alexis Mastela finishing with 41 assists.

The Sailfish will turn right around on Thursday, October 27th for their next match as they will host Webber International University for a 6 pm match at the Rubin Arena.
