Rollins Takes Care of Business with 3-1 Win Over PBA in Volleyball Action

WINTER PARK, Fla.- Hitting the court one final time in the regular season, the Palm Beach Atlantic University volleyball team traveled to Rollins College on Saturday to square off against the Tars on what would be their Senior Day. A matchup of two programs with 20+ wins eventually went to the host-Tars as they closed out the victory with a 3-1 win.

RC started the match with a 25-22 set one victory then came away with a .429 team hitting percentage in set number two to claim a 25-15 win. Palm Beach Atlantic would not give up as they produced a 25-19 win of their own in set three before the Tars came firing back with a 25-20 win in set four to claim the match.

With both teams now boasting a 21-9 record on the season, both teams will now look forward to potential postseason play with the Tars gearing up for the Sunshine State Conference Tournament and PBA now turning their focus to the upcoming NCCAA South Regional to be hosted by Southern Wesleyan University in Central, South Carolina on Friday and Saturday, November 19-20.

Sophomore Mariela Quesada led the Sailfish hitting efforts with 20 kills while also topping the 20 total mark in digs with 24 to lead the Sailfish team for a double-double. Senior Jennifer Eldridge was the only other PBA player to reach double-figures in kills with 12 while adding in 13 digs.

Allie Warren added in 18 digs in the loss while Jessica Way tossed out 45 assists and produced 15 digs in the four games.

The Tars were led by three players reaching double-figures in kills with Sarah Mendoza leading the way with 19 kills and just one hitting error in 50 total attacks for a strong .360 overall hitting percentage.

Kiana Parks collected 35 assists in the win while Phoebe Corder came through with 25 digs to lead all players.
