Tritons Slay Sailfish in Four Games

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- After splitting the first two sets of action on Friday night against the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish volleyball team, the Eckerd College Tritons appeared to gain a second wind as they stormed past the Sailfish for a 3-1 victory. The Tritons would utilize an increasingly more efficient attack as the match went on while forcing the Fish into some uncharacteristic errors.

EC freshman Lindsay Biggs proved her worth throughout the match with a double-double effort including a match-high 19 kills while adding in 14 digs. The freshman from Topeka, Kansas helped the Tritons shake off a slow start as they were victorious by the scores of 25-23, 21-25, 25-16, and 25-19.

 Two other EC players joined Biggs in double-digits for kills as Olivia Fraser and Ariana Chinn both utilized strong hitting styles to the tune of 12 and 10 kills respectively. Overall the Tritons connected for a .197 team  hitting percentage including .282 and .361 in the third and fourth sets.

Eckerd (8-15) utilized a pair of setting options with freshman Madison Burr coming away with team-high honors of 32 assists while Bri Smith added in 14 assists.

The Sailfish were paced by senior Jennifer Eldridge who continued her good run of late with a team-high 15 kills (.240 hitting percentage) while collecting a double-double with 13 digs. Fellow senior Kristin Carroll joined Eldridge in double-figures in each statistic with 11 kills and 12 digs.

Jessica Way finished the night with 32 assists and seven digs while Allie Warren managed 21 digs in the loss.

Palm Beach Atlantic (18-8) will have one final game to close out the home slate as they will welcome in Northwood University on Tuesday, November 2nd for a 7 pm meeting between the two Palm Beach County rivals. The match will also feature a post-match ceremony honoring the team’s senior class.
