Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.- Wrapping up what has been a tough last few weeks of the volleyball season, the Palm Beach Atlantic University volleyball squad hit the road on Friday night for their final test of the 2008 season as they came across a matchup with Barry University. While the Fish kept things close in all three sets, the Bucs still managed a 3-0 sweep as the Sailfish close out their season with a 11-20 record.
The final collegiate match for the four PBA seniors: Emily Ryerson, Brittany Erickson, Beth DeMund, and Chrissy Gulden, the Fish put forth a solid overall effort against a tough Bucs team.
Without the services of Erickson due to a number of late season injuries, the Fish still managed to give the Buccaneers trouble at the net as four Sailfish players tallied at least five kills.
Sophomore Liz Fugate led the way with nine kills followed closely by other PBA underclassmen Allie Warren, Kristin Carroll, and Lanae Robinson who tallied kill totals of eight, six, and five respectively.
Also chipping in eight kills and just one hitting error was Gulden who finished out her PBA playing career in fine fashion with a team-best .259 hitting percentage.
One of the main constants in the PBA lineup all season long was the dependable setting of Ryerson who finished out her PBA career with 34 assists, nine digs, and four block assists.
Leading the defensive strategy was junior libero Jennifer Eldridge who put together her second straight 20 dig effort after also producing 20 digs earlier in the week against Embry-Riddle University in the Sailfish home finale on Wednesday night. Warren also reached double-figures in digs with 13.
