Sailfish Volleyball Swept by Lynn University in Nightcap

Box Score

BOCA RATON, Fla.- Playing their second match of the day, the Palm Beach Atlantic University volleyball team was unable to continue their momentum from earlier in the day after defeating Montevallo University as they were swept 3-0 by Lynn University on Friday evening.

Coming away from a 3-1 victory over MU in their first competitive action of the day, the Fish were never really able to get anything going against the Fighting Knights as they tallied 25-16, 25-17, and 25-21 victories over the Fish.

Lynn (14-10) capitalized on a poor start from the Sailfish offense, one which produced just a .088 attacking percentage in the first set, a 25-16 loss for PBA.

Neither team played their best as only one hitter, Lynn’s Camila Lins, registered more than ten kills as Lin came away with 11 kills.

Senior Brittany Erickson produced a team-high nine kills to lead the Sailfish efforts followed up by Kristin Carrol’s six kill performance. Erickson came away with one of the more dominant defensive efforts of her career as she had nine block assists to lead the Fish.

After a 45 assist performance in her first appearance of the day against Montevallo, senior setter Emily Ryerson was limited to 21 total assists in three games versus Lynn as the Sailfish offense came away looking for answers.

Now 9-13 on the season, PBA will attempt to comeback tomorrow as they play a pair of games during the day. Action begins with a 10 am match versus the University of Puerto Rico- Rio Piedras followed by a 5 pm match with Flagler College in the Rubin Arena.

UPR and Flagler will also meet on PBA’s campus for a 2 pm contest in the Rubin Arena.
