Cole Helman was promoted for a second time, becoming Assistant Athletic Director of Athletic Communications om September of 2024. He previously served as the Director of Athletic Communications since August 2021. Helman originally came to PBA as the assistant sports information director at Palm Beach Atlantic from July 2019-July 2021. In his new role, he will join the athletic department’s senior leadership team and serve as sport administrator.
Helman was named to the inaugural College Sports Communicators (formerly known as CoSIDA) 30 under 30 class in November of 2022. In 2023-24, PBA athletics witnessed its largest single-year growth on social media, including a 25 percent increase in followers on Instagram, after an enhanced emphasis on creative video strategy. The Sailfish athletic communications department received six awards in the 2024 CSC Creative & Digital Design Contest.
Helman has taken on additional administrative tasks. During the 2023-24 academic year, he led the coaching search committees for PBA women’s soccer and beach volleyball. Helman has revamped the athletic department corporate partnership program and has assisted in attaining new partners for the 2024-25 academic year. In the fall of 2023, Helman temporarily served as the sport administrator for men’s soccer and baseball while Director of Athletics Courtney Lovely Evans was on maternity leave.
Since his arrival, Helman has revamped the Sailfish look on social media as the program's primary graphic designer. In 2022, he pioneered an updated design for PBA's athletic website, pbasailfish.com. Throughout his time at PBA, he has served as the primary contact at various points for men's basketball, volleyball, softball, tennis, track, women's lacrosse and women's soccer.
He has served College Sports Communicators (formerly known as CoSIDA) as a member of the Young Professionals Committee since 2021 and has been a voter in the D2SIDA Men's Basketball South Region Poll since 2019. Helman earned a spot on the NCAA South Region Advisory Committee for men's golf in 2023.
Helman joined the Sailfish after one year at fellow Sunshine State Conference member Embry-Riddle where he served as a sports information assistant during the 2018-19 academic year.
While in Daytona Beach with Embry-Riddle, Helman served as the direct contact for men’s soccer, softball and men’s golf and the secondary contact for women’s soccer, baseball, tennis and men’s lacrosse. He created content for social media accounts and print while also collaborating to launch a redesign of the Eagles official website. In addition, he was involved in directing multi-camera broadcasts for live events and developing highlight videos.
Prior to his time at Embry-Riddle, Helman worked as a student assistant at Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind. During his three years in that capacity he helped manage gameday operations for six NCCAA basketball national championship events. He also provided play-by-play and color commentary for select home events.
Helman is a native of Hagerstown, Maryland and graduated from Grace with both a B.S. in Sport Business & Accounting as well as a Master’s of Business Administration.
