Powell joined the Sailfish prior to the 2020 track and field season as an assistant coach. He specializes in sprinters and throwers for the PBA team.
Powell graduated from Cheyney University where he earned his degree in Business Administration. He was also inducted into the schools hall of fame in 2016. Before PBA, Powell coached at Boyton Beach HS and with the Boyton Beach Track Club. Powell began his coaching experience at Pohokee HS and by founding the Pohokee Track Club in 1994. He is USTAF certified and has coached multiple Olympic participants throughout his coaching career.
