Tony Garufi joined the Sailfish women’s lacrosse coaching staff for the 2020 season as the defensive coordinator. He spent the previous six years as a volunteer assistant coach with the women’s lacrosse team at Union College in Schenectady, N.Y.  During those six years the Union women's lacrosse team compiled a 36-20 conference record and qualified for the Liberty League Conference Tournament in three of those six years.

In 2015, Head Coach Abigail Jackson and Coach Garufi were recognized as the Liberty League coaching staff of the year when the team was undefeated in conference play, won the conference tournament and secured a bid to the NCAA tournament.

In addition to Union College, Coach Garufi also completed five seasons as a head coach with the Albany Elite Girls Lacrosse Club where he coached the rising seniors. Most of his players were recruited and went on to play at the college level including 15 who were named high school All Americans.

Originally from Albany, N.Y., Garufi is a graduate of Dartmouth College where he played both football and lacrosse.
