Alan McCann joined the Sailfish at the beginning of the 2020 season. He assists the coaching staff with daily operations including player training, logistics, scouting, recruiting, equipment management and other duties as assigned.
The Dublin, Ireland native was an assistant coach at Keiser from 2014-2017. McCann spent two seasons as an assistant coach for Reading United AC of the USL League 2 in 2016-17. In 2018, McCann took over as head coach winning the Mid-Atlantic Division Eastern Conference. In his first year, Reading won the Mid-Atlantic Division Championship with an undefeated record. Reading won the Mid-Atlantic Division regular season and Eastern Conference in 2018 and 2019. Reached National Finals in both 2018 and 2019 seasons on his way to winning USL League 2 Coach of the Year twice. Currently head coach at Ocean City Nor'Easters FC in USL League 2.
Mccann started his collegiate playing career at Lambuth University for a season, where he helped them to ten consecutive victories while scoring a goal and picking up five assists. He then transferred to College of Saint Rose for two seasons and was named a team captain.
McCann ended his career with Northwood Univeristy (Fla.), again being named a captain. As a defender, he scored two goals to go along with three assists. McCann was named First Team All-Conference and was an NSCAA/Continental Tire Men’s All-East Region First-Team selection.
