Vaughan Nembhard joined the cross country and track programs at Palm Beach Atlantic prior to the start of the 2017-18 academic year. Nembhard comes to PBA after spending the past two years at Westminster Academy in Fort Lauderdale.
An accomplished runner on the track, Nembhard was a conference champion during his collegiate days at Florida International University where he was an All-Trans America Athletic Conference performer in 1996 and 1998. He captured four Penn Relays championships as he competed in the 400 meters, 400 meter hurdles and relays events. In addition, he won a silver medal at the Empire State Games and was a high school national championship team member. He participated in the Olympic trials and was a finalist.
After completing his competition on the track he’s spent a number of years as a coach. He was a graduate assistant at LIU Brooklyn before moving to South Florida where he coached at the University School in Davie from 2012-16. He spent 2016 and 2017 at Westminster Academy where he helped guide the school to a state, region and district championship in 2017 and earning the Broward County Coach of the Year 1A Award in 2017. He’s certified by the USATF.
Nembhard graduated from Calabar High School in Kingston, Jamaica before coming to the United States where he graduated from FIU in ’98. He earned a MBA from LIU in 2001.
