WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer lost to Saint Leo 4-1 on Saturday at Rinker Athletic Campus. The Sailfish faced 25 shots, including 14 on goal, and their goalkeeper finished with 12 saves. The game was scoreless through 50 minutes with all five goals in the final 40 minutes.
The first half saw considerably less action on both sides. Saint Leo took 11 shots; five shots were on goal and stopped by
Brooke Delzatto. Three of those shots came early to set the tone for the match.
Meren Patton led the charge for the Sailfish with three shots between the 15
th and 23
rd minutes. Despite a few more shot attempts, the half played out scoreless with the Lions only taking two more shots on goal, out attacking the Sailfish and their one on-target attempt.
The ball got rolling with the second half whistle. Saint Leo took the charge with five shots, two on-goal, in the first five minutes. Delzatto saved both shots, but could not stop the penalty kick from Annika Schuller. She earned the kick on a handball. The Lions spent 43% of their possession time attacking, leading Delzatto to save four more shots from net as the Lions continued to pressure.

Maddie Hulme took turns responding with shots of their own. The Lions earned a corner kick which led to an own goal by the 'Fish. Delzatto saw Ilaria Miclet's goal go by before saving another attempt. Kendal Popp found the net for the Sailfish after accepting a pass from Patton. In the 85
th minute Saint Leo added another goal after a Sailfish own-goal. The final whistle blew with a score of 4-1.
Popp scored for the Sailfish, converting her lone shot on target. Patton recorded the assist and led the team with three shots, including one on goal. Delzatto finished with 12 saves on 14 shots over 90 minutes in goal.
