YOUNG HARRIS, Ga.- The Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer team played Young Harris to a 1-1 tie on Wednesday at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field. The Sailfish finished with a 13-7 shot advantage, including a 9-3 edge in the first half, while both teams put three shots on goal.
Young Harris broke through on Octavio Castillo's goal off an Ondrej Kopecky assist, but the Sailfish responded quickly.Â
Kobi Thomas converted a penalty kick at 32:01 to equalize at 1-1. This marked first penalty shot conversion of the season for the Sailfish. Earlier, the Sailfish put the first shot on frame when
Ole Lichter forced a save at 1:16, then generated a stretch of pressure with a
Clement Scaccia shot, a corner kick and two Thomas attempts.Â
The Sailfish added chances from
Marcel Duffau and
Simon Buechte and went into halftime tied 1-1.
The Sailfish kept Young Harris scoreless in the second half, with
Omar Einarsson making saves on Filip Zander shots in the 54th and 71st minutes. Earlier in the half, the Sailfish pushed forward through a seven-minute stretch that included a Scaccia shot, three corner kicks and a Thomas attempt that was saved.Â
The half also tightened physically, with the Sailfish receiving yellow cards to Thomas,
Niklas Mahler and
Michael Florian while continuing to defend through Young Harris chances and set pieces.
Ugo Drieu and
Veit Klement added late shots for the Sailfish, but neither side scored after halftime as the match finished 1-1.
The Sailfish return to action on Friday afternoon to take on #7 North Georgia. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. in Dahlonega.Â
