Men's Golf Wins Griffin Invitational

HOWEY IN THE HILLS, Fla. – On Tuesday afternoon, the Palm Beach Atlantic men's golf team, sealed the victory at the Mission Inn Resort. Jonah Leach took the individual title. The Sailfish tied the best 54-hole and single round scores in program history.

In round one, Leach opened hole one with an eagle to take an early advantage. He shot seven birdies throughout the rest of the round to come in at 63 for the round. This marks the second best individual round in program history, and best since Andrew Riley's 2023 NCAA Regional tournament. Leach ended the round nine under-par with a comfortable two-stroke lead. Reed Weekley sat in third at the end of the round with six birdies and one double-bogey to score a 68 and sit 4 under par. Aitor Marcias Lopez ended the round shooting a 69 and sitting 2 under par. Chayton Jordan and Li Kasule found themselves tied with a score of 74, followed behind Nike Karoutsos who ended the round in 75 strokes.

Round two proved to be the best for the Sailfish.  Leach extended his lead to four strokes after shooting a 68. Weekley and Jordan earned themselves a spot in the record books each shooting a 67 to move Weekley into second. Both earned an eagle on the 14th hole. Kasule, Karoutsos, and Lopez closed out the day for the sailfish shooting 69, 70, and 71 respectively. All six Sailfish members shot under par to earn a team score of 271. This is the lowest single round team score in program history, outdoing the 2024-25 DII National Preview by three strokes.

On Tuesday, the Sailfish looked to protect their lead. Kasule finished the day tied for 18th with a third round of 79 and finishing the tournament 6 over par. Jordan finished the day in 77 strokes and closed the tournament 5 over par tied for ninth. Karoutsos, Lopez, Weekley, and Leach each earned a score of 74 for the day. Karoutsos moved up seven spots to finish tied for 11th and 3 over par. Lopez held steady in fourth place with a total of 2 under par. Weekley took a third place finish with a 54-hole total of seven under par. Leach secured the individual champion spot with a total score of 205. This marks his best collegiate score and the third best in program history.

The Sailfish took home the victory in their first outing of the season. They totaled 841, tying for the best team result in program history.
