Men's Soccer Draws with Emory & Henry

EMORY, Va.- Palm Beach Atlantic played Emory & Henry to a 0-0 tie Saturday in Virginia. The Sailfish preserved the shutout through the final seven minutes and 26 seconds, absorbing six Emory & Henry attacking actions from 82:33 to 89:59 without conceding. The Sailfish finished with 10 shots, including nine after halftime, and put four attempts on goal, while Emory & Henry totaled 14 shots with three on frame.

The 'Fish reached halftime without conceding despite facing nine Emory & Henry shots, with Flavio Giannini making three saves to keep the first half scoreless. Earlier, Emory & Henry put four attempts off target between 8:46 and 13:48 before Ole Lichter took the Sailfish's lone shot at 15:04. The Sailfish also worked through two offside calls and several fouls before Giannini stopped each Emory & Henry shot on frame from 22:28 through 29:44. Emory & Henry sent one more attempt wide in the 43rd minute, and the half ended without a goal.

The Sailfish kept the second half scoreless despite a late Emory & Henry push that included three late corners and three shots in the final three minutes. Earlier, the 'Fish generated pressure after halftime, with Simon Buechte shooting in the 46th minute and Kobi Thomas forcing Baptise Berthozat into saves at 52:20, 57:44 and 59:26. 

After a physical stretch around the hour mark, the Sailfish went forward again as Clement Scaccia shot at 70:43, earned a corner at 71:20, Robi Lukau missed right and Niklas Mahler had a shot saved at 77:24 before putting another chance left at 79:10. The 'Fish were shown yellow cards to Veit Klement, Ugo Drieu and Giannini late. Thomas added a late shot at 88:22 and finished the match at 0-0.

Thomas led the Sailfish with four shots and put three on goal. Thomas has produced at least three shots on goal in two straight games. Giannini played all 90 minutes in goal, made three saves and recorded a shutout. The team recorded three saves in the game, exceeding its season average of 1.5 for the 2026-27 season. Mahler added two shots, including one on goal.

The Sailfish return to south Florida to begin conference play next week when they host the Barry Buccaneers on Wednesday evening. Kick-off is set for 6 p.m. at the Rinker Athletic Campus.
