Softball Falls Against FSC

LAKELAND, Fla. — The Palm Beach Atlantic softball team fell to Florida Southern College with a final score of 5-0 at Chris Bellotto Field on Friday.

The Sailfish managed four hits and one double but were unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities, leaving six runners on base.

In the first inning, Kaitlyn Campbell doubled down the left field line and advanced to third on a groundout, but the 'Fish could not capitalize, leaving a runner stranded. The inning ended with the Mocs leading 1-0 after a double and an RBI single in the bottom half of the inning.

The third inning saw Campbell singling again and stealing second; however, the Sailfish were unable to bring her home. Florida Southern extended its lead with a sacrifice fly after a fielding error allowed a runner to advance, making it 2-0.

In the fifth inning, the Mocs increased their lead with a two-run double to right-center, both runs unearned due to a throwing error earlier in the inning. The inning concluded with Florida Southern in front 4-0.

Florida Southern scored its final run in the sixth inning with an RBI single, bringing the score to 5-0.

Campbell led the 'Fish, collecting two hits, including a double, and added a stolen base. Larken Maseda reached base twice with a hit and a hit-by-pitch, while also catching a runner stealing. Rylee Little pitched 4 innings, allowing one earned run on four hits and recording one strikeout. Lauren Allen pitched 2 innings as the starter, giving up one earned run and issuing two hits and one walk.

PBA plays the Mocs in a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
