BISCAYNE BAY, Fla. — Palm Beach Atlantic University showcased both emerging talent and steady leadership at Saturday's Miami Trophy regatta, where milestone performances and confident sailing defined the Sailfish's day on Biscayne Bay.
After a brief delay for the thermal breeze to build, racing began at noon in a reliable 6–9 knots of wind. The steady conditions allowed six races to be completed in both A and B Divisions, providing a consistent and tactically fair racecourse throughout the afternoon. With no OCS penalties or protests recorded, the regatta reflected clean, disciplined racing across the fleet — something PBA exemplified all day.
In A Division, Skipper Nathan Hjort and Crew Kalia Peterson delivered a composed and consistent performance, posting finishes of 10, 6, 4, 8, 6, and 5 to total 39 points, finishing 7th overall in their fleet. The pair remained competitive in every race, avoiding major setbacks and keeping the Sailfish firmly in contention.
The most notable achievements came in B Division, where Freshman Skipper Gabby Ramia reached a major collegiate milestone. Ramia earned her first-ever race victory at the college level with a first-place finish and compiled an impressive scoreline of 1, 5, 3, 5, 5, and 4 for just 23 points in the division. Her breakthrough performance highlighted her rapid development and composure under pressure. Equally significant was the performance of B Division Crew Jacey Daly, who was competing in her first collegiate regatta. Daly stepped into the lineup with confidence, contributing to the team's strongest division result of the day. Her debut effort alongside Ramia underscored the depth and promise of PBA's developing roster.
Combined, Palm Beach Atlantic finished the regatta with 62 total points, reflecting a balanced team effort and a program continuing to gain momentum.
With milestone victories, a successful collegiate debut, and steady performances across both divisions, the Sailfish leave the Miami Trophy not just with strong results — but with clear signs of a bright future ahead.
