Women's Soccer Earns Draw with Florida Southern

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer took Fla. Southern to a 1-1 tie Saturday at the Rinker Athletic Campus. The Sailfish withstood late pressure to hold Fla. Southern to one goal.

The match remained scoreless through the first half. Delzatto recorded four saves and defended the goal on two corner kicks. The Mocs took 12 shots, held 38% of their possession time attacking the goal, but came away with nothing to show for it. Kendall Popp and Meren Patton took the only two shots for the Sailfish, both stopped by Carly Brodsky.

Delzatto saved an early shot by the Mocs as the second half began. Popp opened the game's scoring in the 61st minute with her seventh goal of the season. Her goal came on a quick dash across the field. Delzatto then added multiple saves as the Mocs gained momentum of their own. Rilee Hasegawa scored off Spirk's assist at 76:22 to make it 1-1, but Delzatto stopped Jamie Klein shortly after, and the Sailfish withstood a final run of shots and corners while Kelsi Bennett sent a shot wide in the 89th minute.

Popp scored unassisted and put two of her three shots on goal. Delzatto finished with eight saves over 90 minutes, making four saves in each half. Patton matched Popp for the team lead with three shots and put one attempt on frame.
