WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis team took down the Jefferson Rams on Sunday afternoon at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center by a score of 6-1.
The Sailfish started off strong by sweeping the doubles session. Simona Hantzis Karlsson and Cecilia Peroni took down their opponent by a score of 6-4 in the first position. Moving onto the second position, Anarella Brito and Valeria Lopez dispatched their opponents with a score of 6-4. Frida Alsterhem and Elsa Brenner finished off the Rams with a 6-1 performance in the third position.
The Sailfish almost completed the clean sweep but lost one singles match.
Alina Hoermann took care of her opponent quickly, taking her down 6-2, 6-1 in the first position. Virginia Borja battled in the second position after getting swept in the first set. She won the second set but dropped 10-6 in the tiebreaker.
Simona Hantzis Karlsson took down her opponent 6-0, 6-2. Elsa Brenner took her first set in a tiebreaker but cleaned it up in the second set, completing the sweep with a 6-1 set. Anarella Brito made quick work of her opponent taking her down 6-1, 6-2. Alessia Passerini finished off the singles session in position six but actually finished first taking down her opponent quickly with a 6-2, 6-1 victory.
The Sailfish return to action on Monday at 10:30 a.m. against Mississippi College at the Rinker Athletic Campus.
