Sailfish Drops Road Contest to Flagler

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women's lacrosse team traveled for a mid-day match up against Flagler College. An early offensive strike from the Sailfish was not enough as they dropped the match, 21-10.

In the first quarter of play, the Sailfish had to preserve on defense early with Flagler taking a 3-0 lead. In the fourth minute of play, Annika Limpert netted her third goal of the season and the first of the match for PBA off an assist from Rachel Delate. Flagler retaliated with another goal, seeing the Sailfish trail 4-1. In the seventh minute of play, a turnover from Flagler created an opportunity for the Sailfish, seeing Delate with the goal to cut the deficit to 4-2.

Flagler once again responded with a goal of their own, raising their lead to 5-2. PBA goalkeeper Georgia Karns was seen marking two saves, one off a free position attempt, to hold Flagler at bay. PBA notched back-to-back goals from Arianna Tribble and Olivia Larges to close the first quarter trailing, 6-4. In the second quarter, Flagler was dominant on offense seeing them net five goals. PBA took three shots during the quarter while goalkeeper Karns marked two saves. PBA entered the half trailing, 11-4.

The Sailfish were aggressive from the jump in the third quarter, seeing back-to-back goals from Limpert in a man-up situation followed by Larges on a free position. In the tenth minute of the third quarter, a turnover from Flagler was caused by Meghan Lyons and allowed PBA to clear up field. A successful clear led to Delate netting her second goal and cutting Flagler's lead, 13-7. Flagler recorded three more goals before entering the final quarter of play, seeing the 'Fish trail 16-7.

PBA opened the final quarter of play with back-to-back goals once again. Both goals came from Delate to give her four goals in total on the day and cut the deficit to 16-9. Flagler went on an offensive run and netted six goals, outshooting the Sailfish seven to four. In their final attempt, the 'Fish saw Limpert net the tenth goal of the match on a free position shot but was ultimately not enough as PBA fell, 21-10.

Palm Beach Atlantic will host their first home match of the season inside the PBA Lacrosse Field on Saturday, March 8 against Georgian Court. The match is set to begin at 12:00 p.m. (EST).
