Women's Basketball Drops Game to Mocs

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball team hosted Florida Southern in its regular-season finale on Saturday.

The Sailfish honored seniors Kash Ayuso, Anabel Ellison, and Darria Whitley at the start of the contest. PBA looked to get a win in front of a filled Rubin Arena crowd but couldn't quite find the mark on offense. The Sailfish shot 34 percent in the game, including 3-for-17 from three as the Mocs won 76-58.

Ayuso led the Sailfish with 16 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Ellison was right behind with 15 points of her own with four boards and six steals. Karyzma Pierre added 10 points with two steals.
Points were hard to come by for the Sailfish in the first half. PBA went 7-for-30 in the half with 10 turnovers, allowing FSC to get out in transition on offense. The Mocs pulled away to a 35-21 lead at halftime.

The PBA offense regrouped after halftime as the 'Fish were able to get better looks at the basket by taking advantage of seven FSC turnovers in the quarter. Despite shooting 50 percent in the period, FSC still led 60-42. Ayuso put up nine in the fourth quarter, but it was too little, too late, as the Mocs held on for the 76-58 win.

PBA turned the Mocs over 24 times, leading to 13 points, but FSC scored more points (18) on PBA's 17 miscues. PBA bested the Mocs in second-chance points 10-7.

PBA entered the game locked into the six-seed in the Sunshine State Conference tournament. The 'Fish will head to Nova Southeastern on Tuesday for round one starting at 5:30 p.m.
