Women's Basketball Takes Down Lions, 52-47

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball team defeated Georgian Court, 52-47, in a neutral-site contest at Rick Case Arena. The Sailfish capitalized on 15 points off turnovers.

Breeje Schuler led the team with 14 points, making six baskets and adding 11 rebounds. Anabel Ellison contributed with 11 points and recorded 12 rebounds, including 10 defensive boards. Blanche Toualeu posted 10 points and collected three rebounds. KB Hadley added four steals and finished the game with eight points.

Palm Beach Atlantic opened the game with a quick start as Anaya Smith completed a layup and subsequent free throw at 9:43, establishing an early 3-0 lead. Schuler's layup extended the lead, but Georgian Court responded, tying the score at 5-5 by 6:15.

The first quarter saw a back-and-forth battle with the 'Fish briefly trailing before Toualeu's layup at 1:29 put them ahead. The home team maintained their edge, finishing the quarter leading 10-9.

The Sailfish capitalized on Georgian Court's turnovers to establish a narrow edge in the second quarter. A critical moment came when Maren McCallister drained a 3-pointer at 4:01, assisted by Toualeu, gave the 'Fish a four-point lead. Ellison added a layup at 2:30, to extend the advantage. Despite Georgian Court's attempts to close the gap, the Sailfish maintained the lead, ending the quarter by a score of 22–19.

PBA established control early in the third quarter with a quick steal by Hadley that set up a fast-break jumper by Darria Whitley, assisted by Ellison, at 9:04. The home team extended their lead further when Schuler hit a 3-pointer from an Ellison assist at 7:06, bringing the score to 29-22.

The 'Fish maintained their momentum with consistent defensive efforts, including three steals during the quarter, while Ellison contributed significantly with multiple rebounds and assists. The quarter concluded with the Sailfish leading 37-31.

The 'Fish secured the tight victory over Georgian Court, overcoming a late challenge in the final minutes. Ellison's pivotal three-pointer at 4:54 extended the lead to six points, following a fast-break three-pointer from Schuler at 5:57 that had widened their margin. Despite Georgian Court narrowing the gap with a 3-pointer from Alexi Hoy at 1:07, the Sailfish maintained their advantage. Ellison's two free throws with 12 seconds remaining sealed the win. The game concluded with PBA ahead 52–47, marking the end.

The Sailfish return to the court tomorrow at noon at the same venue, this time taking on Seattle Pacific.
