'Fish Surge Past Tritons in 5-0 Victory

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Palm Beach Atlantic University dominated Eckerd College with a 5-0 victory on Saturday at Johnson Field. The Sailfish capitalized on a strong offensive performance, registering nine shots on goal and netting three goals in the first half. The defense was equally effective, maintaining a clean sheet with only one save needed against Eckerd's four total shots.

The match began with the 'Fish establishing early control, as Marian Rutkowski found the net in the 9th minute, assisted by Mattia Bui. Rutkowski doubled the advantage shortly after, scoring again in the 13th minute with help from Veit Klement

Sailfish continued to press forward, and Bui capitalized in the 18th minute, assisted by Rutkowski, extending the lead to three. Despite several attempts from the home side, Eckerd was unable to break through, leaving the score at 3-0 in favor of Palm Beach Atl. at the end of the first half.

The second half commenced with the Sailfish maintaining their offensive momentum. Paul Danner quickly extended the lead with a goal in the 51st minute, marking his contribution to the team's scoring drive. The Tritons attempted a response, but Flavio Giannini's save in the 64th minute kept them at bay.

Palm Beach Atl. further solidified their advantage when Marko Borovic found the back of the net in the 68th minute, assisted by Quinlan Van Arkel. Despite several attempts from Eckerd, the half concluded with the 'Fish up 5-0, securing a decisive lead as the match ended.

Rutkowski led the team with two goals and one assist. Danner added a goal and was credited with an unassisted goal as well. Giannini recorded one save and secured a shutout, playing all 90 minutes. Tin Vastic was active offensively, taking six shots with two on target.

The Sailfish return to West Palm Beach, Fla. for a top-five matchup against SSC foe Lynn. The match is set for 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22.
