Softball Concludes Season at No. 20 Rollins

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic softball team finished its series against Rollins on Saturday.

The Sailfish concluded their season with a doubleheader against the No. 20-ranked Tars. PBA held Rollins to two runs in both games combined but came up short in both, dropping each game 1-0.

PBA finishes its season with a 15-26 record and an 11-19 mark in conference play.

Game One – RC: 1, PBA: 0

Cambria Arturo continued her dominance in the circle. In the final start of her Sailfish career, she pitched six innings, surrendering only one run on four hits with no walks. The senior held Rollins scoreless for five innings, but a single and stolen base set up an RBI single in the sixth to give the Tars a 1-0 lead.

Elisa Grande started the seventh inning with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. The Tars held off the Sailfish comeback attempt, forcing a pair of groundballs to end the inning. RC held on to win, 1-0.

Game Two – RC: 1, PBA: 0

The Sailfish had three different pitchers combined for six innings in game two. The Sailfish staff of Ashlyn Storms, Lacy Marty, and Lauren Allen gave up one run (none earned). Unfortunately for the Sailfish, they couldn't come through with runners on base.

A leadoff triple gave the Tars an opportunity to score. The runner ran home after a flyball to right field was caught by Gracie Mullett. Mullett delivered a near-perfect throw that beat the runner home by a mile, but the umpire ruled obstruction at home plate, giving Rollins its only run of the game.

The Sailfish had two base runners in the top of the seventh. PBA brought the tying run to third and the go-ahead run to second, but a strikeout and a lineout ended the inning.

Storms started the game in the circle. She gave up one hit and no walks with a strikeout in two innings. Marty got charged with the loss despite not giving up an earned run. She gave up three hits and a walk in two innings. Allen tossed the last two innings, giving up one hit and one walk.
