Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer team earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory over conference foe, Florida Southern on Saturday night.
PBA dominated much of the first half possession and were creating offensive chances. A little over halfway into the first half, Maddy Nelson fired home a right-footed strike from just outside of the 18-yard box. Ava Taylor crossed in and played Bella De Silva who deflected it over to Nelson for her third goal of the season.
The Mocs' did not go away quietly. Florida Southern came out with a new energy in the second half. They would capitalize on that momentum with an equalizer early in the half. An uncharacteristic turnover for the Sailfish defense led to a Riley Hasegawa tying goal.
Just minutes later, Marina Leal tracked down a long ball from Anna Foreman. A few crossovers later, she crossed it into an unmarked Emma Canty who smashed it home for the game-winning goal.
Another stellar performance from PBA's midfield, defense, and goalkeeper held down the one goal lead for the win. The back four of Madison Kovar, Lea Loubier, Anna Foreman and Emily Rinaldi continue to make stellar defensive plays game after game for the Sailfish and tonight was no different.
The Sailfish return to action on Wednesday night when they host Florida Tech (5-2-0) at 6 p.m. at the Rinker Athletic Campus.
