WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer team fell by a score of 4-0 to the Florida Tech Panthers in their rescheduled match.
The Sailfish played well early. A corner kick shuffled around the box and Marina Leal attempted a bicycle kick, but it ended up wide. Late in the first half, Lydia Carroll of Florida Tech played a long ball over the top of the Sailfish defense to Marta Llopis who struck it off the left post and into the net despite a defensive effort by Lea Loubier.
Into the second half, Lea Loubier dropped one of her signature long free kicks into the box and it fell to Emma Canty who couldn't get it on frame due to a recovering Panther defender. Minutes later, Florida Tech doubled their lead thanks to a goal from Lauryn Wood. Wood placed it into the side netting after a through ball from Llopis.
A few minutes later, the referee awarded Florida Tech a penalty kick after he determined Madison Kovar committed a handball inside the box. Marta Llopis slotted it home for her second goal of the match.
Llopis completed her hat-trick in the 73rd minute of the match with a free-kick goal from the left side of the box.
The Sailfish look to flush this game immediately and bounce back on Wednesday evening when they head to Daytona Beach to take on Embry-Riddle at 7 p.m.
