WEST PALM BEACH, Fla- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer team was handed their first loss of the season by the Florida Tech Panther's Wednesday night. The Sailfish (1-1-1) were in a scoreless battle until the Panthers (3-0) made a late game push to give them the victory.
It was quite the defensive performance by the Panthers in the first half by only allowing the 'Fish to get two shots up on the board while they were able to put up nine.
Taylor Jackson answered those nine shots with five saves and played all 90 minutes of the game for PBA.Â
The 'Fish turned up the pressure in the second half by breaking through Florida Tech's defensive pressure to put up six shots. But some costly mistakes lead to PBA's ultimate demise when the Panther's scored their first goal in just the last ten minutes of play. The goal came from Sara Batchadji off a free kick right to the left side of the net to put the Panther's up one. There was hope for the 'Fish as
Sydney Timmes and
Maddie Kovar had two great looks at a goal but just couldn't get the ball in the net.Â
Some frustration arose for the 'Fish as
Michelle O'Driscoll was handed her second yellow card of the game which lead to Sara Batchadji's second goal of the night off of a penalty kick in just the last five minutes of play. The Panther's have now won the last four matches against the 'Fish.
The Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer team is back in action Saturday night where they will play Barry University at 7 p.m. in a non-conference matchup.Â
