No. 25 Men's Soccer Drops Non-conference Match at Lynn

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer team traveled to Sunshine State Conference rival Lynn on Saturday. The 'Fish faced the Fighting Knights in a nonconference matchup.

The Sailfish went into the match boasting a No. 25 ranking in the United Soccer Coaches top 25. Lynn (5-0) came into the match undefeated, looking to spoil PBA's reentry into the top 25. Lynn's defense made the Sailfish work hard to get an open look in the offensive third. PBA (3-2) recorded two shots in the match, falling to Lynn 2-0.

The first half was a defensive battle between two evenly matched clubs. The teams combined for just two shots in the opening 45 minutes of play with just one on goal.

Giancarlo Dostilio tried to put the 'Fish ahead, taking a strike at the 50-minute mark, but it was just over the crossbar.

Lynn broke through at the 64-minute mark. A turnover at midfield led to an attacking opportunity. A cross sent into the box was headed into the goal by a Lynn attacker to give the Fighting Knights a 1-0 lead.

As time began to run out, PBA tried to find the equalizing goal. Narcis Bou Dalmau tried to take things into his own hands, taking a shot from outside the box, but it sailed high with nine minutes left to play.

Lynn notched its second goal of the match in the 82nd minute. A long through ball from the midfield led to a one-on-one with the Sailfish goalie. The Fighting Knights took advantage of the opportunity taking a 2-0 lead.

The Fighting Knights held their lead for the rest of the match. Lynn's 2-0 win snapped PBA's two-match winning streak. Salvador Plaza played all 90 minutes in goal, recording two saves.

The Sailfish compete again on Sept. 20 against Barry. The match in Miami Shores, Fla. takes place at 7:00 p.m.
