WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer team has set its schedule for the 2023 season. The 16-match slate will see the Sailfish play ten home games at the Rinker Athletic Campus and a ten-match Sunshine State Conference schedule.
"We have one of the most difficult schedules in the south region," head coach Chris Gnehm said. "We are well aware of the challenges that this season presents. It gives our players an amazing opportunity to play at the highest levels of Division IIÂ soccer. We're excited for the opportunity, and really can't wait to get going."
The Sailfish get their season underway as they host Webber International on Aug. 31. PBA follows up their opener with a four-match home stand that will see them face familiar opponents in Saint Leo, Florida Tech, and Lynn but all as non-conference matches in early September. The 'Fish will also face Barry twice on the year, with PBA starting SSC play at home on Sep. 9 and PBA making a non-conference return trip to the Bucs ten days later.
PBA hosts 2022 NCAA National semi-finalista Columbus State on Sep. 27 before closing the season with eight straight SSC games. The Sailfish host Nova Southeastern and Tampa in early October before a critical three-game road stretch at 2022 SSC regular season champion Florida Southern, Florida Tech, and Lynn. PBA wraps up its regular season by hosting 2022 SSC tournament champion Embry-Riddle on Oct. 31.
After a 10-5 record in 2021, the Sailfish are coming off a 2-10-3 year last season. PBA turned over much of their roster in the offseason, but does return leading scorer
Kendall Furrow, forward
Alyana Gonel who finished with five points last season, as well as regular starters
Baylee Siegfried,
Anna Foreman, and
Erin Cepeda. Â
