PBA Taken Down By No. 5 Spartans at Home

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic women's lacrosse team looked for the upset as they hosted the No. 5 Tampa Spartans in a Sunshine State Conference showdown. The Sailfish were unable to pull off the victory as they fell 23-4 to drop their record to 3-8 on the season.

PBA fell behind one of the top sides in the country quickly as they conceded the first six goals of the contest today inside of the opening nine minutes. It was Ella Howlin who continues to be a top threat for the Sailfish offensively as she scored the opening goal for PBA at the 4:37 mark in the first quarter to get the 'Fish on the board. The Spartans scored the next eight goals before Sara Metheny scored PBA's second goal before the half as the Spartans led 14-2 at the half.

Olivia Larges and Sara Methey scored in the second half for the Sailfish but PBA was outmatched against the conference's top side as they fell 23-4. Tampa outshot the 'Fish 36-9 on the day as each Sailfish goalie played a half. Courtney Rausch conceded 14 goals and made four saves while Georgia Karns entered in relief and gave up nine goals while making one save. Katie Caras led the way defensively once again with three ground balls and two caused turnovers.

The Sailfish hope to get back on track as they head to Daytona Beach to take on Embry-Riddle on April 12. The Eagles are 11-2 on the season and ranked No. 18 in the country.
