PBA Drops Home Finale Against Ranked Lions

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic women's lacrosse team hosted No. 21 ranked Saint Leo today at the Rinker Athletic Campus. In the home finale for the Sailfish, the Lions pulled away in the second half as PBA fell 20-7.

Like they have multiple times throughout the year, the Sailfish jumped out ahead early on as Olivia Larges scored inside of the opening minute. The Lions countered with the next four goals in the game before Hunter Levinson found Addyson Johnson to break the Lions' scoring streak. Saint Leo scored the next two goals to close out the quarter and PBA trailed 6-2 after 15 minutes.

The 'Fish scored three goals in the second quarter, starting with Katie Karlsen at the 12-minute mark followed by Ella Howlin with 4:30 left in the half. Freshman Patton Davis scored her first goal of the season before the halftime break but the Lions continued to lead 11-5 after the first 30 minutes of play.

Despite trailing, the Sailfish were only outshot 19-16 in the first half but the Lions ran away from PBA in the third quarter outscoring the 'Fish 6-1. Larges scored the lone two goals for the Sailfish in the second half as they were outscored 9-2 with a running clock throughout the second half. SLU outshot PBA 30-25 in the game but Saint Leo goalies combined for 10 saves while Courtney Rausch had four for PBA before Georgia Karns entered midway through the third quarter and made one save the rest of the way.

The hat trick from Larges moves her to 25 goals on the season as she continues to lead the Sailfish in goals. Katie Caras led PBA with four ground balls and four draw controls while Levinson added three ground balls to her assist.

The Sailfish finish their season with two games on the road as they play at Lynn on April 19 and finish with Florida Southern on April 22. Lynn is ranked No. 16 in the nation while Mocs are ranked No. 5.
