WINTER PARK, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic women's lacrosse team hit the road to take on Rollins College this afternoon. The Sailfish fell behind early and dropped the game to the No. 7 ranked Tars 21-4 which drops PBA's record to 3-6 and 0-1 in the Sunshine State Conference.
The Sailfish got their first taste of SSC play today against one of the conference's top sides in Rollins. The 'Fish were in the game for the opening five minutes as
Ella Howlin scored her 16th goal of the season. That goal leveled the game up at 1-1 early but from there on it was as Tars as they pulled away from PBA. The home side scored the next 13 goals to close out the half and the Sailfish trailed 14-1 at the break with a running clock in place.Â
Georgia Karns got the start on goalie today for the Sailfish but she was replaced by
Courtney Rausch in the first quarter after allowing the first eight goals. Rausch entered the finished the game with the team's only 2 saves while allowing 13Â goals. PBA was outscored 4-2 in the third quarter as Howlins scored her second goal of the afternoon and
Hunter Levinson scored her third goal of the season.
Sara Metheny went on to add a goal late in the fourth for the Sailfish as the game ended 21-4.
PBA was outshot 29-10 in the game while the battle for draw controls was relatively even with Rollins holding a 16-12 advantage.
Sara Metheny led the way for PBA picking up three round balls while Matheny and
Olivia Larges each picked up one ground ball.
The Sailfish return home and continue SSC play as they will next take on Florida Tech on Wednesday, April 5. The Panthers are 8-4 on the season and 0-2 in conference play so far.Â
