WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic softball team concluded its series against SSC foe Nova Southeastern with a doubleheader on Saturday.

The 'Fish picked up their first Sunshine State Conference win of the season in game one. PBA scored seven runs on eight hits and five walks on its way to a 7-5 win. The Sailfish offense was quieted in game two. The Sharks earned the series win with a 6-0 win in game two.

PBA takes a break from its SSC schedule to play Caldwell University in a doubleheader on Saturday. The first pitch of game one is set for 12:00 p.m. at Simpson Field.

Game One – PBA: 7 – NSU: 5

The Sailfish didn't hesitate to grab an early lead in game one. Daylin Hejtmanek walked and stole second base to start the bottom of the first. Briana Rodriguez singled to left field, followed by a double steal to put runners on second and third with no outs. A groundout to second scored Hejtmanek and gave PBA a 1-0 lead.

The rally continued as Dallas Watterson laid down a bunt. The Sharks tried to make the play at home, but B. Rodriguez was too quick, scoring to make it 2-0. A single by Bella O'Connor and a walk from Elisa Grande loaded the bases with one out. Kendall Baer walked, scoring another run for PBA. Madison Schlichte sent a hard-hit ball to the shortstop that drove in another run. The Sailfish ended the first with a 1-0 lead.

PBA scored two more runs in the second on four hits. Beginning at the top of the lineup, Hejtmanek singled to center field to lead off the frame. B. Rodriguez singled through the left side to put runners on first and second. Evoni Rodriguez drove in Hejtmanek with a single down the left-field line to make it 5-0. B. Rodriguez came around to score on an infield single by Grande, giving the 'Fish a 6-0 lead.

NSU got on the board in the top of the fourth. The Sharks notched four hits and a walk to score two runs, making it a 6-2 game. The Sailfish added an insurance run in the fifth. A pair of runs put two runners on, setting up an RBI single by Hejtmanek to give the 'Fish a 7-2 lead.

The Sharks plated two more runs in the top of the sixth on four hits and a hit batter. The rally knocked PBA starter Lacy Marty out of the game, bringing in Friday night's starter Cambria Arturo in relief. She ended the inning with PBA leading, 7-5.
