Sailfish Fall On the Road at Saints

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic women's lacrosse team took the field away from home for the first time this season against Flagler. The Sailfish fell to the No. 15 ranked Saints by a final score of 20-8. The Sailfish record falls to 2-4 on the season.

The Sailfish got on the board first as Ella Howlin scored her ninth goal of the season three minutes into the game. From that point on, the Saints took control of the game as they scored the next eight goals. Six of the eight goals came from free position attempts as the Sailfish defense failed to protect their goalie Courtney Rausch. Olivia Larges got going for the 'Fish as PBA's leading scorer completed a first-half hat trick but the Sailfish trailed 14-5 at the half.

PBA was outshot 18-8 in the opening half and scoring chances remained tough to come by as PBA won just 10-of-30 draw controls and finished the game with 19 fewer shots. The Sailfish converted on their looks when they got them as they scored on eight of their 11 shots on goal. The 'Fish were outscored 4-2 in the third quarter and 2-1 in the fourth as a running clock shortened the game.

Larges finished with a game-high four goals and Howlin added two while Mattie Davis and Sara Metheny each scored a goal to round out the PBA scoring. Rausch played the first half in goal allowed 14 goals and recorded two saves while Georgia Karns took the second half and made six saves while allowing six goals. Mattie Davis led the Sailfish with four draw controls.

The Sailfish continue a road trip that sees them head to Tennessee to face Lee on Thursday. The Flames have a 4-5 record on the season.
