Sailfish Fall Against Lynn on Senior Night

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Palm Atlantic men's soccer team squared off with Lynn tonight in a Sunshine State Conference battle. The Fighting Knights came out on top in a defensive battle as they scored in the final second to win the match 2-0. PBA falls to 5-6-2 on the season with the defeat.

A subdued first half witnessed Lynn and PBA struggle to find chances offensively. Just 10 minutes in, a Lynn corner kick fizzled out. PBA's first notable attempt came at the 16-minute mark when Nicklas Clausen's shot was off target. The two sides combined for just five shots in the opening half with neither creating a clear-cut scoring opportunity.

The action ramped up in the latter half. Just four minutes in, Lynn threatened with a direct free kick, but PBA's goalkeeper, Salvador Plaza came up big with a save The deadlock was eventually broken 20 minutes into the second half when Lynn's Ricardo Packer Jr. netted a crucial goal. Despite PBA's subsequent effort to get back into the game, they couldn't find the back of the net despite outshooting Lynn in the second half. The game's fate was sealed when, with only 20 seconds left, Lynn's Roman Hartleb doubled the lead, sealing the 2-0 victory for Lynn.

On a night where PBA honored their 13 seniors, the Sailfish fell on a windy night that made playing conditions difficult. The defensive battle between the two sides was won by the same scoreline as when the two sides met earlier in the season in Boca Raton.

PBA returns to action at Eckerd this Saturday. With three conference clashes remaining, the match is a nearly must-win for the Sailfish hopes of making the SSC tournament.
