WEST PALM BEACH, Fla- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 loss against the No.10 Lynn Fighting Knights. For PBA (1-5) this marks their third game against an opponent ranked in the top ten of the nation.
The lone win for the 'Fish came from the doubles duo of
Alessia Passerini and
Jasmine Williams. The pair pulled out a tight 7-5 victory over Lynn's Eliska Petrackova and Mayanka Rana. The tandem of
Elvira Edstrom and
Anabelle Robichaud dropped their doubles match against Giorgia Pigato and Zofia Podbiol 6-1.
Courtney Page and
Verena Weindl fell 6-2 to Karyna Bihel and Jacqueline Wagner 6-2.
In the singles competition, Edstrom was downed by Podbiol 6-3, 6-0. Wagner defeated Weindl 6-1, 6-0. Williams fell to Lynn's Bihel 6-1, 6-2.
Frida Alsterhem played a close first set against Petrackova. Alsterhem dropped a tiebreaker 8-6 to lose the first set 7-6. Alsterhem fell in the second set 6-3.
The Sailfish travel to Orlando next to face a slew of nonconference opponents with five games next week. PBA takes on Augustana, on Tuesday, Mar. 8, Lander on Wednesday Mar. 9, Southern New Hampshire on Thursday Mar. 10, Duquesne on Mar. 11, and the trip concludes with a tilt against Rockhurst on Saturday, Mar. 12.
