Sailfish Drop Cross-County Game at Lynn

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic women's lacrosse team squared off with the Lynn Fighting Knights tonight. In a game that only counted as a regional game against a familiar conference opponent, the Sailfish fell 17-3 to fall to 1-5 on the season.

The Sailfish fell behind the eight ball early on in the opening quarter of play. The Fighting Knights hopped out to a 7-0 lead in the opening period despite only outshooting the Sailfish 10-7. The difference came in net as Lynn made six first-quarter saves to PBA's zero. Lynn added the eighth goal ten minutes into the second quarter before the 'Fish were able to get on the board. Addyson Johnson scored at the 3:42 mark but PBA would trail 11-1 at the half.

PBA was outscored 3-1 in the third and fourth quarters of play, as they never were able to get their offense going on the night. 16 shots on goal led to just three goals in the game as Lynn made an impressive 13 saves. The Fighting Knights recorded 23 shots on goal as PBA freshman goalie Courtney Rausch was able to make six saves. Kiki Cinotti found Johnson as she scored her second goal of the game in the third. In the fourth quarter, Cinotti found leading scorer Anna Laskaris who found the back of the net for the 12th time this season.

The counting team stats were fairly even between the two sides as Lynn edged PBA in draw controls 13-10, groundballs 23-19, and caused turnovers 19-17. Chelsea Smith led the Sailfish with three groundballs and Jia Wang led with two caused turnovers.

The Sailfish will look ahead to a return to the Rinker Athletic Campus where they will host Fort Lewis on March 25. The Skyhawks are currently 1-3 on the season.
