WEST PALM BEACH, Fla- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis team pulled out a close 4-3 victory over Wayne State on Monday at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center. For PBA (4-6) this marks its third consecutive victory.
The Sailfish dropped the doubles point for an early 1-0 deficit to the Warriors. Elivira Edstrom and
Anabelle Robichaud fell 6-3. Alessia Paserini and
Jasmine Williams dropped their match 6-4. The lone win in the doubles portion came from the tandem of
Courtney Page and
Verena Weindl. Page and Weindl picked up their fourth doubles win of the year 6-4 over Linda Liong and Laura Cazacu.
Down 1-0, the 'Fish rallied in singles competition. From the order of finish, Passerini dropped her singles match in two sets 6-0, 6-4.
Anabelle Robichaud fell 6-4, 6-1. After the first two singles matches ended, the 'Fish won out.
Frida Alsterhem downed Sabrina Layes 6-4, 6-3. Weindl defeated Marta Komar 6-3, 6-4. Edstrom took a three-set victory over Anais Ruyoverssen 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
Cecilia Peroni earned her fifth singles win of the season in three sets over Suki Mandiar 6-2, 2-6, 6-2. Peroni (5-0) is undefeated this season.
PBA travels to Melbourne to face Indiana (PA) on Mar. 16.
