WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer team fell to the Florida Southern Mocs 3-2 Saturday night at the Rinker Athletic Campus. The Sailfish dropped to 1-5-3 on the season.Â
The Mocs scored the lone goal of the first half in the 17th minute when FSC's Anita Vera connected with Angelina Coelho in front of the goal. Coelho's shot went into the right side of the net for a 1-0 FSC lead. The Mocs extended their lead to 2-0 early into the second half. In the 48th minute, the Mocs moved the ball near the box. A ball was crossed near the net and FSC's Lindsey Meyer kicked a shot that ricocheted off a Sailfish defender into the goal.Â
The Sailfish were more active offensively in the second half as they took nine shots in the final 45 minutes. In the 76th minute,
Sydney Brewer launched a laser off her left foot from outside the box. Her shot found the right side of the goal to cut into FSC's lead, 2-1. The goal marked Brewer's first of the season.
With time winding down in the match, the 'Fish found an equalizer. In the 85th minute,
Kendall Furrow blasted a free kick into the back of the net to tie the game at 2-2. Furrow is tied for the team lead in goals with two this season.Â
The Mocs made one last push in the final minutes of the match. In the 87th minute, FSC's Lindsay Meyer assisted Caitlin Lowery for the game-winning goal. The Mocs held onto their lead for the remainder of the match for a 3-2 final.Â
