Women's Lacrosse Concludes Season at Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic Women's Lacrosse team concluded its season on Friday night against No. 6-ranked Tampa.

PBA (1-8, 1-5 SSC) was forced to play from behind after the Spartans took an early lead. Tampa (7-1, 5-1 SSC) kept the 'Fish at bay for most of the contest, defeating PBA, 23-5.

Kiki Cinotti led the 'Fish with three goals on eight shots. Anna Laskeris and Sara Metheny each found the back of the net in the contest. Kate Leblanc tallied an assist and won a draw control in her final game for the Sailfish.

Laskeris got PBA on the board after five minutes of action in the first half to make it 5-1. Cinotti followed with her first goal to try to cut into the Tampa deficit; however, another 5-0 run made it 12-2 Spartans midway through the first period. Cinotti tried to keep the 'Fish in striking distance with a pair of goals as the half winded down, but the Spartans ended the half with a goal to take a 14-4 lead into halftime.

Tampa kept on the gas in the second half, opening the period with a 4-0 run. Metheny scored her goal at the 12-minute mark, but that's all the 'Fish could muster in the second half, leading to a 23-5 win for Tampa.

Chelsea Smith picked up a team-high three ground balls, won three draw controls and forced a turnover in the contest. Abigail Nehring got the start in goal for PBA, totaling eight saves.

PBA finishes its season, which was limited to SSC opponents due to the pandemic, with a 1-7 overall record. The season was highlighted with the program's first conference win coming against Lynn on March 31.
