WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis team played its first home match of the spring on Sunday against Embry-Riddle.
The Sailfish were forced to play from behind early after conceding the doubles point. ERAU (3-1, 1-1 SSC) won matches at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions to clinch the doubles point. The team of
Elvira Edstrom and
Verena Weindl did earn the win at No. 2 doubles for PBA (2-3, 0-2 SSC), 6-3, but it was too little too late.
Shelby Groeneveld tied the match for PBA after earning the win at the No. 1 spot, 6-0, 6-1; however, that was the only singles win for the 'Fish. ERAU earned wins at No. 3, No. 6 and No. 2 singles to clinch the match. The Eagles won the match, 6-1.
PBA will have a date with Mercyhurt on March 3. The match at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center takes place at 1 p.m.
