Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball team squared off with SSC foe Barry tonight at Rubin Arena. The Sailfish led early and often in the first half but were unable to keep up with the Buccaneer second-half onslaught and ultimately fell 66-43. The Sailfish fall to 2-11 with the defeat and 0-6 in SSC play while Barry picks up its second conference win and moves to 4-9 overall.

The Sailfish held their first halftime lead, 26-23, against a SSC opponent tonight after shooting 10-of-32 from the floor in the first half. PBA was able to knock down four threes and held to Bucs to 36 percent shooting from the field. Kennedi Rodgers led the 'Fish offensively in the first half with eight points on 3-for-3 shooting and 2-of-2 from behind the arc.

The Sailfish defensive intensity could be felt right out of the gate as Claire Bady held second-leading scorer in the SSC Harriet Swindells to five points in the first 20 minutes. PBA had a plus-four turnover margin in the first half as they committed only six and forced ten from the Buccaneers. Ciara Cumbie dominated the paint scoring six points and pulling down ten rebounds in the half.

After the break, the Barry offense came to life and the Sailfish were unable to keep pace. They saw their halftime lead evaporate in the third quarter as the Bucs outscored the Sailfish 20-7. PBA started the game 4-for-9 from behind the arc but missed their last 11 and shot just 23 percent from the field in the second half overall. The Buccaneers would go on to outscore the Sailfish 23-10 in the fourth to pull away to the 23 point victory.

Barry had three players reach double-figures led by Emma Hergot's 14. The Bucs ended up shooting 47 percent from the floor and were 5-for15 from three in the game while the Sailfish second-half struggles brought their shooting percentage down to 27 percent for the contest. Rodgers and Aniyah Ross each had eight points which led the Sailfish in scoring. Leading scorers Avree Carpenter and Sia Williams combined to go 3-from-23 from the floor and score seven points.

The Sailfish will look to pick up their first SSC win of the season when they host Rollins on Jan. 11 at Rubin Arena. The Tars are 9-5 on the season and 2-4 in conference play.
