MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer team started the 2019 season with a 2-0 victory on the road at Auburn University of Montgomery. The No. 10 ranked Sailfish scored once in each half to see off the Warhawks on Saturday.

The season began two days later than expected as PBA's home opener against Davenport University on Sept. 5 was canceled due to Hurricane Dorian. Despite the loss of practice days, the Sailfish stayed in control of the match throughout. The 'Fish looked a threat in the air throughout the game and in the 13th minute the opening goal was headed in by Thomas Spear off a corner taken by Quenzi Huerman. 

The score was 1-0 at halftime and defensively PBA kept AUM from creating many serious scoring opportunities. The Sailfish out shot the Warhawks 18-5 in the game and 4-2 on target. Senior keeper Elliot Barker made two saves in the game and was quick off his line on multiple occasions to intercept through ball passes.

The second goal came in the 84th minute as Giancarlo Triulzi's right footed shot from just inside the right side of the box. Harun Velic's hold up play on the edge of the box allowed him to slip in Triulzi for the second goal of the game. 

After a 19-1-1 season in 2018, the No. 10 ranked Sailfish move to 1-0 and continue their Alabama road trip on Sept. 9 against the University of Montevallo. The game against the Falcons will kick off at 8 pm.
