WINTER PARK, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis closed their season with a close 4-3 defeat at the hands of Rollins on Tuesday afternoon.
The Sailfish grabbed the doubles point with wins on court one and two as Vanessa Buchbinder and Yuliia Russu picked up a 6-4 win at No. 1 and Bella Mermersky and Elvira Edstrom won by the same score at No. 2.
Mermersky and Edstrom were both able to pick up singles victories as well with Mermersky winning in three sets at No. 2 and Edstrom winning in straight sets at No. 5. Mermersky battled back after dropping the opening set, 6-4, to win the next two 6-4, 11-9. Edstrom took down Kaitlynn Groves 6-4, 6-3 to secure her 10th win of the season. Mermersky also closes the season with 10 wins in singles play while Buchbinder finishes as the team leader with 14.
The Sailfish finish the season at 11-11 overall and 2-8 in the SSC.
